WELCOME TO MY PORTFOLIO
The purpose page is to introduce you to a sampling to some of the work that I have done and some of the skills I have acquired during my undergraduate education studying Landscape Design.
LOS ANGELES TEMPLE GROUNDS CREW MEMBER:
The following shots are a sampling projects I have been involved in designing and installing at the Los Angeles Temple.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN TEACHERS ASSISTANT:
The following shots are a sampling of Sketchup models I created to help introduce form composition to students.

PLANET CAREER DAYS:
The PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) Student Career Days 2009 event was held at Cal Poly Pamona March 27-29. Our team consisted of 16 participants and were each given 2-5 events. I participated in the Safety Management, Interior Plant ID and Interior Landscape Design competitions. As a team we took first place overall and I placed 3rd in the Interior Landscape Design event.

ADVANCED LANDSCAPE DESIGN:
This course has assisted me in; refining skills to artistically and functionally design and present landscapes, visualizing that which does not exist at the present, explore elements and principles of design and enhance expertise in computer design programs.

PLANTING DETAILS:
Planting details are essentially small scale planting designs. They are created for roughly for a 10’x 10’space. The function of the planting details is to have in essence a quick reference. They can readily be used in inspiring other planting designs or even be directly incorporated into any landscape.

LIVING RIVERS:
This project was used to place emphasis on planting design, particularly with the use of 'Living Rivers'. The concept of 'Living Rivers' is to create a fictitious river using plant material to create intrest and movement within a planting area.

SUZHOU DESIGN:

The objective of this assingment was to produce a polished landscape with a relaxed atmosphereand an increased feeling of space using Chinese design principles such as: reflected sceneries, borrowed sceneries, leaking through sceneries, ect.

The video bellow is a quick animation of a model I created of my suzhou design using Google Sketchup.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS:
This ciriculum aided me by introducing me to construction materials used to create outdoor spaces. Aslo by developing sales skills used in the presenting of project and in adition I became skille at the manipulation of land forms by cut, fill and providing drainage.

BALI DESIGNERS CHALLENGE:
Dividing the class into groups of three, we were assigned the challenge of creating a Balinese paradise for two clients that really enjoyed traveling. I worked with my team to create the following design to transform their backyard with a taste of Bali.

BALI LIGHTING DESIGN:
After completing the design phase we were also given the challenge to create a night lighting design to suplement the previous design to create an inviting evening atmosphere for the clients to enjoy.

LANDSCAPING WITH VEGETABLES AND FRUIT:
This course taught me principles and applications for establishment, culture and production of fruits and vegetables in the landscape.

PATIO POTAGER:
As part of the final we were asked to design a small scale (10'x10') patio garden using vegetable and fruit producing plant material.

HALF ACRE POTAGER:
We were also required to design a potager using a half acre lot. I chose to use a formal geometric design that would reflect the mission style of architecture commonly found in southern California.

INTRO TO COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN:
In this class I received training in the use and application of comonly used computer programs such as, Adobe Photoshop, Dynascape and Dynascape Color. Design principles and the design process were reviewed and reinforced.

FINAL:

LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION:
This course was excellent in providing me with the opportunity to develop landscape construction skills. During the class wa had access to and were trained in the use of machinery and taugh construction techinques with emphasis on the details.

The following is a slide show of pictures taken of the project we completed in the student gardens.

FIELD TRIPS:

INTERNSHIP IN NEW YORK WITH EVAN C. LAI:
During the summer of 2008 I had the privilege of interning with Evan C. Lai Landscape Design in Manhattan. It was a fantastic opportunity in which I was able to gain invaluable experience and I had a great time enjoying the city.

INTRO TO LANDSCAPE DESIGN:
My first exposure to Landscape design came while taking this class. The purpose of the class was to:
1. Introduce steps in the design process.
2. Design residential landscapes that are functional, artistic, and beautiful.
3. Learn elements and principles of art that apply to Landscape Architecture.
